ACT here I come

I have spent countless hours on the phone with BSU trying to figure this whole transfer thing out, and it seems that nothing has been resolved, and I havent gotten much clarafication in the whole situation, so Ive made a decision...

Im going to take the ACT. Which is incredibly daunting because I was never too good at the whole standardized test thing. But Im going to buy a study guide and study, study, study!

I'm going to take the book up to SLC to study as well, and if i need any help my genius grandma will be there to help. I think if I really buckle down and study had for this test (even hough its just a placement test) Ill do okay on it. Hopefully the English will balence out the Math.

Anyways, It was a busy day at work today, and its always that way right after a holiday. Everyone refrains from calling in on sunday and decides to call in today!

Nothing too new here, just impatiently waiting until May 10th, so I can take the ACT and get a final answer from the university as to where I stand.

Ill definatly be keeping you upated :)

TVCC is a sly institution

It was registration today for spring 2008, my tuititon was 1,118 for the TRIMESTER.

When I first started looking into schools and where I wanted to go to school, it seemed that everyone was telling me that I should go to TVCC because its so much cheaper then BSU or any other university for that matter.

They do fail, however, to tell you that TVCC is on a trimester system, so instead of Fall/Winter and then Spring, theres Fall, then Winter, then Spring. an they bill you per semester. Which works out to be close to 4,000, which is really close to what BSU's tuition is going to be per year.

On a lighter note, I am obsessed with Wal-marts five dollar movies. Now, dont get me wrong, I dont lik wal mart in the slightest, but their five dollar movies, those are wonderful. I think I have this thing with buying DVD's in the first place. Cheap DVD's are even better.

I'm reading this great book right now, its called Pledged. Its about this Sorority, and the deep dark secrets that actual sororities go through. Its nonfiction, and actually really interesting. I need to start reading again, I miss that hobby of mine.

Busy Day, as it probably will be for the next 6 years of my life.

Wake Up Call

I had an appointment with an advisor from Boise State this morning, and it actually wasnt even worth the drive out there.

I dont see the light of day at 730 in the morning. I am not a morning person.

So my morning started off badly, my alarm didnt go off so I had to take a shower in seconds. There was rush hour traffic, and on top of everything else, they didnt even tell me where to go, and the campus is huge.

Finally I parked in the nearest parking lot I could find, and pulled out my map of the campus and learned that I was near the administration building, and I figured that was the safest place to get put in the right direction.

Lucky me, I got there right as a class change was happening, so it was super busy! but that made it exciting, because it actually put me there, walking to class, in the rain.

I of course went to the wrong building and finally made it o the right building and met with an advisor named Gaylord. It was not too helpful, I ended up having alot of questions to ask and they got answered in a vauge manner.

I ended up taking the COMPASS test, which is just a placement test the college uses to place into Core classes for the semester. Well I took the writing, and its on a scale of 0 to 100, and I got a 94. Writing and Reading are my strong suites. So I skipped the main English class, and got immediatly placed into an upperdivision english. YAY for me!

But then I find out that I have to take the ACT before I can do anything. Ive been out of school for almost tree years, I do not know how Im going to take this test and actually do well. This is a adventure that Im not sure Im excited about.

And to top a very stressful day off, I got a parking ticket. yeah. AWESOME!

What a day.
Tomorrow, Im sleeping in. :)

Im really excited to come to Salt Lake City in April for my grandmas birthday. I havent been down there for a while, and it will be a really nice vacation from work.

Ive also got a big trip coming up in July to Seattle for the Red Sox. My dad has gotten me into baseball and ive pretty much become a cynical fan now.

Ive been taking some photos that Im kind of proud of. Photography is wonderful, I dont claim that Im good at it, but its something that I really enjoy.

Lets try and keep this one, shall we?

I'm not new to blogging, but I am new to this particular site. Ive attempted to keep a blog up and running too many times to count, but I always seem to get busy and never continue them with regular updates, and eventually I forget the password so i cant even log in. Theres probably 5 or 6 different Emily blogs floating around, lost in the past. So with all the different, new and exciting things going on in my life right now, I'm really going to try and keep this one updated.

Speaking of new and exciting;

If you didnt know, I am currently enrolled in Treasure Valley Community College taking some classes so I can build enough to eventually transfer over to Boise State University.

Well eventually has come, I applied to BSU on Friday, paid the application fee and now its just a waiting game until I hear if I've been accepted or not. This is really exciting, considering alot of people didnt think I would even graduate from high school.

My parents and I have decided that I will be living on campus, which is also really exciting because I'm currently about a half hour to forty five minutes out of my way to the actual campus. I will be living right downtown in the middle of everything, and right there on campus so ill be able to take a full set of classes and get on the fast track to a bachelors degree.

The campus I'm going to be living in are called The University Suites, which are upperclassman dorms. The layout is really nice, and not typical for a dorm room.

So by looking at the image above, this is the layout of the dorm. I would be sharing it with 3 other girls, we get our own bathroom and kitchen and living area. The dorm that my good friend Gina is living in, she has to share a bathroom with an entire floor, and she has to have a roomate. So this layout is really convenient and I dont have to purchase a meal plan which I know I wouldnt use.

I'm going to be getting my Bachelors in Communication, with a minor in Speech and debate and Political Science. After i obtain my Bachelors degree i plan on doing a fast track system to getting my Masters so that I can start off at that pay scale, and take an administrative position if that opprotunity opens up for me.

When I get there, Ill be right in my element. Ill be able to take Intercolligate Debate and Speech and compete against universities around the country.

For those of you who dont know, Im currently working at DirecTV, inc. Its been a wonderful part time job for me while I go to school, I'm working 4 hours a day, 5 days a week and the pay is what I was making when I was working at Target full time.
