Lucky Number

I got a 21 on my ACT. That average, I bombed the math portion and did really well on the english portion so it balenced itself out.

Still have to wait a week and half or so until I hear what my actual admission status is, but the lady I spoke with this morning said I really dont have anything to worry about as far as getting in.

Once I'm in, then its just the apartment process and then starting school.

Ill keep you updated.

Thunder and Lightning

It's getting close to summertime, and I think that I tried to tell myself that I didnt like the heat of the day. But I was kidding myself.

My most favorite attribute of the hottest season of the year is summer storms. I lovetto turn any noise off in my room and listen to the hard rain beat own on the roof, and the distant boom of the thunder off in the distance.

I also love lemonade, and I dont like it as much in the Winter. Its like hot chocolote in the Winter. I dont ever have it in the summer.

I love cloudbursts, and the smell of the rain hitting the concrete.

Summer drinks, Daquari's and Mojito's. I like the summer alot more then I thought I did.

So the whole living on campus thing isdefinatly falling through, but I brought the whole apartment thing up to my parents, and well, they are on board. So it looks like I will be staying at the civic Plaza Apartments, 2 miles away from the campus.

I am not only excited to move out, but I'm also excited to be alone.

I wish there were a storm outside.

Fly Away Home

I want to go on a trip, I cant afford a trip, but I'm craving a good vacation. A summer vacation, Seattle or San Fransisco. Anyone wanna come? I think I'd like to go and drive, the window down, hours of scenery, yeah, I need to get out.

The Philidelphia Flyers still stay in the playoffs, the Penguinsare up 3-1 in the series, but hopefully the flyers will pull out all the stops and win the next three games and go to the Stanley Cup finals. And the Red Sox are playing like crap. :(

I think I'm going to fly away and never come back. Or I'll come home when I've found myself. ;)

Just Because You're Lonely...

I need to find someone to talk to. Being so busy with school and work has left me with less then one good friend that I trust enough to actually vent too. I think its starting to affect me in a negative way, just not being able to vent about things that are bugging me. I'm going to find someone to talk to, to vent to, to trust.

I miss this book, and how it made me feel. I miss reading all together. Reading a textbook just isnt cutting it. I miss mall trips, and Barnes and Noble, and the familiar infared numbers flashing 3:00 am.

But everything that I'm becoming, and everything thats starting in the next little while is so exciting! An apartment, living on my own, huge responisibility and being alone... I do the best when I'm alone, but it seems awfully lonely.

I think I'm just a little down. Its been kind of a tough week.

Maybe a Better Alternative

So I got my room assignment from BSU today and Im in a first year hall with a roomate. ICK. And i'm required to purhase a meal plan in that particular hall. So I called the housing office to find out what I could do to get into the University Suites.

Well if you guys dont know, BSU is extremely over booked as far as housing students is concerned. There is a huge shortage for housing this year, and that contributed to why i didnt get my top three choice on the application. The lady I spoke with out me on the wait list, so we have until july to figure out if we can get a room there or if we will be looking for another way of housing. My next top choice would be to get an apartment, by myself. The apartments Im looking into would be called the Civic Plaza apartments, theyre section 8 housing, so low income housing and would cost less then the first year hall would cost with the meal plan for the full year! Im kind of excited about it, because if this is the way that we go, it would be so much fun to have my own apartment and whatnot.

Anywaysss, thats all i have to updates and whatnot, Ill keep you update on the admission status and housing status.

Lets hope I get the University Suites or the Civic Plaza Apartments. <333

It's a new week

What a waste of a weekend. Let me tell you, I took the ACT on Saturday, it took 5 and 1/2 hours, and by the time I got home, I was so tired that I spent the day in my bed, watching Dawson's Creek, and being really lazy. I figured I was allowed to be a little lazy considering I am draining myself silly with school at the moment.

The math part was terrible. I haventeen in school for almost three years, and I didnt take a math class my senior year, and I couldnt answer more then half of the questions. I did guess, but I really dont think that is going to do me much good when it comes to the scoring process. I did, however, do really good on the English and Reading portions of the test, which I wasnt too suprised about.

I'm starting a new shift at work this week, I will be working from 1:45pm to 5:45pm Monday through Friday, which will be nice, I have a new Team Leader who is really nice and hopefully will continue helping me excel at my job currently.

Speaking of Directv, I just celebrated my one ear anniversary at the company, which is considerable, but went so quickly. I got a raise and a tenure pin. Chances are I will be there through out my schoo career, up until it comes time to do my student teaching (by then I will probably be substituting because I wont be taking classes durin the day, so I will continue ith Directv for another 3 years, or maybe 6 if I get my Masters without teaching first.

It's been kind of an off week. I wont go into the gory details but a depressing one to say the least. I think I'm just very drained from being so busy with school and midterms. Alot of people have come in and out of my life but the one person I didnt expect exited this week and Im kind of sad about it. But I continue to have people in my life that are there for me, and who always will be.

Heres hoping this week is a little less busy, and a little more positive. The glass is half full from this day going forward.

Convenience Is An Ugly Word

I am on my way to take a midterm exam for my theatre class. It's open book, so thats exciting. I'm also picking up a calculator for my grueling act tomorrow from Gina and spending the day at work. I will be wrking my normal 4 hours but were having a team meeting tonight, since its the last team meeting we will have on that particular team, so Im going to supervise for about 3 hours until the meeting.

Mothers day is coming up, which is always exiting, were going to brunch at Banburry Golf Course, with my grandparents and parents.

Things are busy. Things have changed.

A Step In The Right Direction

I am franticlly preparing myself for the ACT this saterday, and I know that I talk about it alot, but I am really scared! I know I will probably be fine, but the anticipation is killing me.

Ive been watching Netflix movies like crazy lately considering that I have to stay home and do homework most of the nights that I am home... or watch a Red Sox game, which seems to be happening more then homework these days. Ive been watching every season of Dawsons Creek lately... I'm feeling nostalgic, considering the tv show was on when I was in Jr. High.

I went to Target the other day and bought me and my mom two of the reusable bags that they have for sale for .99. In an effort to "go green" we are going to start recycling, were going to get cute colored bins to set on the back porch and seriously start considering the enviroment. I am also going to do this thing that target had advertised, I bought a Newsweek Magazine and I can send in a couple of Target bags to the specified address and they will send me a reusable (and bigger!) bag made out of tagrte bags, they have them on display if youve been to Target recenetly and theyre 5.99, but I think it would be cooler to get a bag that was actually made from the bags I sent. Every effort to "go green" is a small step towards making the world around me a better place. Its something I has become really close to my heart, unfortunetly I dont have alot of time, but I am sincerely making an effort to pick up trash i come across while walking down the sidewalk, not litering, saving water ect, ect...

Thats all for now. Sometimes things turn out better then you expected them too. <3

It Was Time For A Vacation

I'm here in SLC with Grandma, I got in yesterday, and let me tell you, I needed this vacation. The flight I took yesterday was so easy and early I couldn't believe it. The flight was supposed to land at 10:05 am, instead it landed at 9:45 am, and I was out the door by 9:55. Grandma hadn't even arrived yet. No worries however, it was just a few minutes before she did.

Were going to see Annie tonight at King's Hall. Were also going to dinner at Market Street, my treat for grandmas birthday. I have some assignments that I have to get done tonight for school, but I've got plenty of time.

Anyways, sorry I haven't written in a while, its been really busy on my end with school, and work and everything.

Enjoying the Vacation :)

ACT here I come

I have spent countless hours on the phone with BSU trying to figure this whole transfer thing out, and it seems that nothing has been resolved, and I havent gotten much clarafication in the whole situation, so Ive made a decision...

Im going to take the ACT. Which is incredibly daunting because I was never too good at the whole standardized test thing. But Im going to buy a study guide and study, study, study!

I'm going to take the book up to SLC to study as well, and if i need any help my genius grandma will be there to help. I think if I really buckle down and study had for this test (even hough its just a placement test) Ill do okay on it. Hopefully the English will balence out the Math.

Anyways, It was a busy day at work today, and its always that way right after a holiday. Everyone refrains from calling in on sunday and decides to call in today!

Nothing too new here, just impatiently waiting until May 10th, so I can take the ACT and get a final answer from the university as to where I stand.

Ill definatly be keeping you upated :)

TVCC is a sly institution

It was registration today for spring 2008, my tuititon was 1,118 for the TRIMESTER.

When I first started looking into schools and where I wanted to go to school, it seemed that everyone was telling me that I should go to TVCC because its so much cheaper then BSU or any other university for that matter.

They do fail, however, to tell you that TVCC is on a trimester system, so instead of Fall/Winter and then Spring, theres Fall, then Winter, then Spring. an they bill you per semester. Which works out to be close to 4,000, which is really close to what BSU's tuition is going to be per year.

On a lighter note, I am obsessed with Wal-marts five dollar movies. Now, dont get me wrong, I dont lik wal mart in the slightest, but their five dollar movies, those are wonderful. I think I have this thing with buying DVD's in the first place. Cheap DVD's are even better.

I'm reading this great book right now, its called Pledged. Its about this Sorority, and the deep dark secrets that actual sororities go through. Its nonfiction, and actually really interesting. I need to start reading again, I miss that hobby of mine.

Busy Day, as it probably will be for the next 6 years of my life.

Wake Up Call

I had an appointment with an advisor from Boise State this morning, and it actually wasnt even worth the drive out there.

I dont see the light of day at 730 in the morning. I am not a morning person.

So my morning started off badly, my alarm didnt go off so I had to take a shower in seconds. There was rush hour traffic, and on top of everything else, they didnt even tell me where to go, and the campus is huge.

Finally I parked in the nearest parking lot I could find, and pulled out my map of the campus and learned that I was near the administration building, and I figured that was the safest place to get put in the right direction.

Lucky me, I got there right as a class change was happening, so it was super busy! but that made it exciting, because it actually put me there, walking to class, in the rain.

I of course went to the wrong building and finally made it o the right building and met with an advisor named Gaylord. It was not too helpful, I ended up having alot of questions to ask and they got answered in a vauge manner.

I ended up taking the COMPASS test, which is just a placement test the college uses to place into Core classes for the semester. Well I took the writing, and its on a scale of 0 to 100, and I got a 94. Writing and Reading are my strong suites. So I skipped the main English class, and got immediatly placed into an upperdivision english. YAY for me!

But then I find out that I have to take the ACT before I can do anything. Ive been out of school for almost tree years, I do not know how Im going to take this test and actually do well. This is a adventure that Im not sure Im excited about.

And to top a very stressful day off, I got a parking ticket. yeah. AWESOME!

What a day.
Tomorrow, Im sleeping in. :)

Sleep Deprevation

It's officially finals week.

Last night, I was up until 4:30am working on preparing my final for Wednesday for my School Law class. BRUTAL, bt it actually turned out really nice, and I really showed my artisitic side.

Im getting ready to take 4 classes for next semester.

Consmer Behavior
Educational Technoloy
Intro to Theatere
Sociology
Im really excited to come to Salt Lake City in April for my grandmas birthday. I havent been down there for a while, and it will be a really nice vacation from work.

Ive also got a big trip coming up in July to Seattle for the Red Sox. My dad has gotten me into baseball and ive pretty much become a cynical fan now.

Ive been taking some photos that Im kind of proud of. Photography is wonderful, I dont claim that Im good at it, but its something that I really enjoy.

Lets try and keep this one, shall we?

I'm not new to blogging, but I am new to this particular site. Ive attempted to keep a blog up and running too many times to count, but I always seem to get busy and never continue them with regular updates, and eventually I forget the password so i cant even log in. Theres probably 5 or 6 different Emily blogs floating around, lost in the past. So with all the different, new and exciting things going on in my life right now, I'm really going to try and keep this one updated.

Speaking of new and exciting;

If you didnt know, I am currently enrolled in Treasure Valley Community College taking some classes so I can build enough to eventually transfer over to Boise State University.

Well eventually has come, I applied to BSU on Friday, paid the application fee and now its just a waiting game until I hear if I've been accepted or not. This is really exciting, considering alot of people didnt think I would even graduate from high school.

My parents and I have decided that I will be living on campus, which is also really exciting because I'm currently about a half hour to forty five minutes out of my way to the actual campus. I will be living right downtown in the middle of everything, and right there on campus so ill be able to take a full set of classes and get on the fast track to a bachelors degree.

The campus I'm going to be living in are called The University Suites, which are upperclassman dorms. The layout is really nice, and not typical for a dorm room.

So by looking at the image above, this is the layout of the dorm. I would be sharing it with 3 other girls, we get our own bathroom and kitchen and living area. The dorm that my good friend Gina is living in, she has to share a bathroom with an entire floor, and she has to have a roomate. So this layout is really convenient and I dont have to purchase a meal plan which I know I wouldnt use.

I'm going to be getting my Bachelors in Communication, with a minor in Speech and debate and Political Science. After i obtain my Bachelors degree i plan on doing a fast track system to getting my Masters so that I can start off at that pay scale, and take an administrative position if that opprotunity opens up for me.

When I get there, Ill be right in my element. Ill be able to take Intercolligate Debate and Speech and compete against universities around the country.

For those of you who dont know, Im currently working at DirecTV, inc. Its been a wonderful part time job for me while I go to school, I'm working 4 hours a day, 5 days a week and the pay is what I was making when I was working at Target full time.
